My weekend was pretty uneventful. I went home on friday and just kinda hung around. I think I went to sleep around 6am or so. That was kinda a bad idea. So Saturday I got up around 2pm and watched tv and such. I decided to rent a few movies, so I went to blockbuster, with my newly aquired blockbuster member card in hand. I ended up renting The Godfather and Requiem for a Dream. Both had be highly recommended, obvously The Godfather, top 3 best movies of all time, and Requiem for a Dream, a dark, trecherous tale, but very powerful. So after blockbuster I went to little ceaser's for pizza. When I returned I started watching The Godfather. I must say, it was very very good. I was sad though because my disk was shit so I had to keep moving it between two DVD players. So it took awhile to finish but defenitally worth it. Later Saturday night I found Garden State and decided to watch it. I thought it was a pretty cute movie. Natalie Portman was real cute. Sunday I got up at 10:15. I didn't really do anything for a few hours then warmed up pizza. After that I watched Requiem for a Dream. Basically it's a story about 4 people who succome to addictions, one of diet pills and the other three on heroin. It is one of the most powerful movies I have ever seen. I basically sat there staring at the tv as the credits scrolled by. It took about 5 min for me to move. With that being said, I think everyone should see it. The movie is a bit graphic, but really only 3 things happen that are out of the ordinary. I will not divulge what those are, but I only muttered "fuck" once. The thing that made this movie amazing, was the director's use of different film techniques. Also, the film score was spectacular. The main theme, "summer overature" and is haunting and memorable. One thing that makes it feel so haunting and uneasy is that it is played by a string quartet. Most of the score is string quartet and some techno. But the score does an amazing job of conveying feelings and emotions through the entire movie and especially the climatic scene at the end. The whole movie is an assault on your mind and body and I have never ever felt like I knew what addiction was until I saw this movie. So in summary, EVERYONE should see this movie once. But beware, it is a tough, tough ride. Maybe a less movie focused update tomorrow?? I'm kinda suprised how long that was :-0 Current Location: 149 Current Mood: weird Current Music: roast of shatner
